#TBT: Paul Weller

Paul Weller’s “Wild Wood” was released in September, 1993 and was an unqualified success in the UK. Two songs from the album managed to penetrate American airwaves—the rowdy “Sunflower” and the more acoustic-driven title track. Both songs exemplify Weller’s post-Jam, post-Style Council pop chops: searing guitar work, his signature gritty baritone, and arrangements that are harmonically complex without losing for one instant their hooks.
